For additional information follow the links below
The smallest fluid-bed coater/driers require a minimum of about 3-500g of material to work effectively.  Using  the Caleva Mini Coater/drier-2 it is possible to coat or dry a single tablet (or up to 150 tablets) or a few grams of spheroids.  The coater/drier is designed as a reliable and robust laboratory tool that is very simple to operate.
The Caleva bench-top fluid-bed tablet and spheroid (pellet). A small-scale bench-top tablet coater designed for pharmaceutical product research and development (R&D) - The new Mini Coater-Drier 2
Designed for use in the pharmaceutical industry the Caleva mini coater/drier can also satisfy other applications such as coating granules with catalytic material, coating of fluid filled gelatine capsules, coating of chocolate shapes and other confectionery.
An ideal apparatus for trial and development work.
A small-scale fluid-bed drier/spray film coater.
Typical batch size ranges from 1 to 20g (A single tablet can be coated or as little as a few grams of spheroids or pharmaceutical pellets).
In pharmaceutical development tablets and spheroids are coated for several reasons. The most important and common reasons are:-
>>To modify and control the release of active ingredient (controlled or modified release, eg byuse of enteric coatings)
>>To enable the mixed presentation of otherwise incompatible formulations
As well as:-
>>To mask taste or smell
>>To improve appearance for marketing
>>To facilitate identification for safety
>>To facilitate swallowing to faciilitate ease for end-user
>>To protect the core from light or moisture for improving stability

R&D work normally benefits from the ability to produce small quantities of coated tablets or spheroids (pellets). This is particularly useful when experimental material is of high value or not readily available.  These situations are common in early stages of drug development or research to develop new formulations or coatings.
With its ability to apply a high quality coating to very small quantities of tablets (as little as a single tablet) or spheroids the Caleva spray coater/drier is the ideal laboratory equipment for this.
Output and productivity
Spraying and drying each sample of tablets or spheroids normally takes about 15 minutes of spray time.
This will vary between coating materials and with coating  thickness required.
Increasing the length of the spray period thicker coatings can be easily be applied.
Coating of known % weight gain can easily be added.
Available options
additional options are not necessary as th apparatus is supplied complete and ready to work once assembeled.
The magnetic stirrer shown in the picture is not supplied. Most laboratories will already have this type of apparatus.
If required Caleva can supply this with the mini coater drier.
Key Points:
Ideal for research & development. Fits on your bench-top. No floor space required.

Convenient batch size from 1 to 150 tablets or a few grams of spheroids.

Ideal for coating small amounts of costly or scarce material when products in limited supply.

Quick and easy to make small batches of repeatable samples for trial work.

Superior quality of applied coating (compared to a pan coater!).
